Born in Tokyo, raised in Brazil, and educated in French schools, but it was in London that Noriko Sekiguchi, also known as POiSON GiRL FRiEND first found the music that would inspire her own work. She became infatuated with the UK and US house music that was filling the city in the mid to late 1980s, before returning to Tokyo, bringing the music with her to the city's clubs as a DJ. Releasing multiple albums, the POiSON GiRLFRiEND project – featuring a house and breakbeat-infused pop and R&B sound – reached minor commercial and critical acclaim. Sekiguchi's solo music along with her work in obscure group Kiss-O-Matic has experienced a small revival following some Japanese music fanatics exploration of 90s CD releases.

Claude Young

On 19 June 2021, Claude Young was a guest on Waajeed Presents: UMA Fundraiser Takeover. Claude Young has been played on NTS over 70 times, featured on 71 episodes and was first played on 26 February 2014.

Electronic composer, videographer, sci-fi junkie, apple computer expert and world class DJ are but a few of the hats worn by Claude Young. This Detroit native who now resides in Glasgow, Scotland (UK) and Tokyo (Japan) was born the son of legendary American WJLB radio personality, station founding member and production master Claude Young Sr. Young's father, through his radio show in Detroit, was partly responsible for huge hits for such artists as Isaac Hayes, David Bowie, Quincy Jones, Elton John, Falco, Al Green, Kraftwerk, Jody Watley, Erik B & Rakim, Run DMC and many more, crossing a diverse musical landscape during the 70's & 80's. Young's editing & production skills in the studio were taught to him by his father and also through years of experimentation alone.

The 90's saw Young working on a string of records for both independent and major record labels. Takkyu Ishino, Technasia, Gary Numan, Carl Craig, Joey Beltram, Inner City and 4Hero are but a few of the artists either remixed or edited by Young during his 16 year long music career. Relocating to London in 1995, Young embarked on a string of DJ tours and electronic music lectures world-wide, performing regularly. In 2002 Young relocated to Glasgow. In December 2004 he semi-retired from his tour activity to start the company cynet-media.
