Bubba and T-Bone aka Jonny Smyth and Timmy Stewart have produced music under many different guises over the years, for labels including Classic, Hip Therapy, Paperecordings, Glasgow Underground and Siesta. In 2006 they decided it was about time to start making music together especially as they have both long shared the same love for the sounds of early acid house and modern electronica.
They developed a live set for a local BBC Radio gig which was so well recieved that it led to a support slot for Tiga on his last visit to Belfast.
An EP of tracks specially derived from the live set was released and picked up support from a broad range of djs. The Dirty Static track gained plaudits from Andrew Weatherall when he featured it in the Top Ten tracks doing the damage at his wrong meeting club night in ID mag. "Lysergic Badness Brewed in Belfast" is what he said and we couldn't agree more.
This summer their "Friendly Fire" track on Mode Music picked up massive support from a broad range of dj's including radio and club plays from Ben Watt, Anja Schneider, Ricardo Villalobos, Dubfire & Sasha… and destroyed clubs like Fabric in London, the Arches in Glasgow and the Stiff Kitten and Shine in Belfast where Timmy is a resident dj.
With forthcoming releases on Gung Ho, Elevation and Alive recordings as well as a host of killer remixes to follow in the new year, the future looks bright for the Belfast duo.
