Dave Clarke

Dave Clarke

Dave Clarke has been played over 20 times on NTS, first on 5 June 2014. Dave Clarke's music has been featured on 25 episodes.

Dave Clarke is a name of at least three artists:

1) A simplification of David Maurice Clarke (b. 19 Sep 1968, Brighton, England - aka Hardcore, Fly By Wire and Directional Force), a techno producer / DJ, who is often ascribed the status 'The Baron of Techno'. He débuted with the single Hardcore's "I Like John" (1990, XL) and, excluding the "RA.EX007 Dave Clarke - 2010.11.12" interview, his latest is the album "Dave Clarke Presents Remixes & Rarities 1992-2005" (Nov 2006, Music Man).

Clarke has a reputation as one of the world's best techno / electro DJs, though always an outsider: from his stormy 1980s childhood, to his tempestuous relationship with the media today. As a fan of radio, Dave shares contemporary insights freely, on UK, Belgian, Turkish and Dutch radio (e.g. for 3VOOR12's 'Whitenoise').

In 1993, Clarke became involved in the early months of Daft Punk's career, upon approach by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The band presented him and Stuart McMillan (Soma co-founder), with demo tape - leading to their début, Daft Punk's "The New Wave" (Apr 1994, Soma).

2) A singer-songwriter (b. 31 Mar 1983, Oxford, England), who is influenced by New England rock, English folk rock and new wave funk guitar.

3) A mis-tagging of Dave Clark, a Philadelphia, PA, USA singer-songwriter, who has contributed to several acts: vocals, guitar, bass, keys and drums. Solo recordings include: "The Cali Comeback" (2007).
