There are (at least) two bands called Open Road.
Open Road was a short-lived British progressive band from the early 1970s, established by two musicians ('Candy' John Carr and Mike Tomson) who had previously backed Donovan on his 1970 LP, Open Road. Open Road released just one album (1971's Windy Daze) and a stand-alone single ('Swamp Fever' b/w 'Lost And Found', also in 1971). A second LP was recorded in 1972, but never released, as Open Road disappeared.
Open Road is (or was?) also a hard-driving bluegrass band based in Lyons, Colorado. Called "The ultimate post-modernist bluegrass band" by Vintage Guitar magazine, they have two releases on Rounder Records, In the Life and Lucky Drive.
The line-up features Caleb Roberts (mandolin), Eric Thorin (bass), and Keith Reed (banjo). They have been joined by Americana singer-songwriter Jefferson Hamer, recently of the celtic band The Wayfarers. Former Lead singer Bradford Folk retired from touring in April 2006 to open a honky-tonk in LaPorte, Colorado.
