Sijjin — Arabic for “vehement” or “a terrible place in the bottom of Hell” — are comprised of bassist/vocalist Malte Gericke (ex-Necros Christos), Iván Hernández (Extinction), and Ekaitz Garmendia (Extinction). The terrible troika blew the valley of Hinnom wide open with their blessedly sick Angel of the Eastern Gate demo in 2019. Now, the terrors of a forgotten age return for another strike of the copper spear into the heart of modern weakness. Indeed, the altar-ed madness of Sumerian Promises (Sepulchral Voice) is both harrowing and haunting, rife with dervish-paced passages, blackened unspoken spells, and wicked war drums. Sijjin are the fire within, lost to time, dust, and Abrahamic patriarchy/hegemony.
