Gardenia

Gardenia has been played on NTS in shows including Soup To Nuts w/ Ross Allen, featured first on 16 March 2023. Songs played include Chiquita Linda.

There are multiple artists with this name:

1) A Polish band that has been active for over 35 years now, founded in April 1987, Warsaw, Poland, when the country was still in the Warsaw Pact or the so-called Soviet Bloc, playing a mix of post-punk and new-wave with a tinge of dark psychedelia at the time. The first line-up consisted of Radek Nowak – vocal; Alek Januszewski – guitar, keyboards; Przemek "Gutek” Wójcicki – bass; Mariusz Radzikowski – drums; Marcin "dread” Chlebowski – conga. Their debut self-titled album was released in 1988 but reissued later, in 1993, as MC - after the country's transition to democracy. Late eighties and early nineties were quite busy and formative for the band, with gigs on important Polish festivals of alternative music, like Nowa Scena or Jarocin. Though the band never officially went on hiatus, the following years were marked by less intensity, and they started to release albums again later, with the new millenium, Neuroza being the recent one, released in 2022.

2) Gardenia is a Danish pop folk band from Copenhagen. Formed February 2009 by André Rostrup, Aske Juul and Oskar Jakob. The vocalist Ninotchka then joined in, and they started the songwriting. Bassist Aske Juul then left the band to be replaced by Emil Flindt. 25 songs have been finished since then, and several gigs have been played. Gardenia has recently aquired a drummer, Emil, and is on the lookout for gigs in Copenhagen.
