Software

Software has been played on NTS over 40 times, featured on 41 episodes and was first played on 6 November 2013.

Software is a German electronic music duo. The band was formed in 1984 by Mergener Peter (* 1951) and Michael White (b. 1948). Prior to forming Software, they worked together as Mergener & White.

The LPs and CDs of the band appeared under the label IC (Innovative Communication), which was owned by electronic musician Klaus Schulze and released music by numerous other electronic musicians, as well as German New Wave Group Ideal.

In the years 1990-1992 White produced, during a temporary separation from Mergener, four albums under the name of software with different themes: Fragrance with Klaus Schulze and Georg Stettner (* 1970) and Modesty Blaze I. and II and Cave with Billy Byte (aka Stephan Töteberg).

After the dissolution of software in 1999, the musicians went their separate ways: Peter Mergener composed and continues to play electronic music, while Michael Weisser formed GENE and is among other things is working as a "media artist".
