Irish avant-pop composer Maria Somerville gifts us a special hour long show entitled "The Invisible World", inspired by the words of poet John O'Donohue, featuring music from her Irish musical predecessors, as well as The Durutti Column, Suzanne Kraft, & John Maus. The mix is inspired by an interview I heard with irish poet John O’ Donohue, he talks of growing up in the west coast of Ireland, theories on the passage of time and a “lifelong fascination with the inner landscape of our lives” and with what he called "the invisible world". “The Irish poet, theologian, and philosopher insisted on beauty as a human calling. He had a very Celtic, lifelong fascination with the inner landscape of our lives and with what he called "the invisible world" that is constantly intertwining what we can know and see. This was one of the last interviews he gave before his unexpected death in 2008. But John O'Donohue's voice and writings continue to bring ancient mystical wisdom to modern confusions and longings.” “He devoted himself full-time to meditating and writing on beauty, friendship, and how the visible and the invisible, the material and the spiritual, intertwine in human experience."

Eddie " The Spoiler" Perrell [legendary " Stax" recording artist] recorded the group in 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. The recordings were taken to New York. One of the songs "STAY MY LOVE" was picked up by Paramount Records a division of Paramount Motion Pictures and signed to the group on March 22, 1971 to the label by A & R recording legend Dean Courtney. Before the record was released, in 1971 Paramount nationally and internationally advertised and promoted " SLY, SLICK & WICKED" as their "HOTTEST NEWEST GROUP" and the song went # 1 on various charts across the country as well as the B side " Surely". In 1973, world famous entertainer James Brown heard about Sly, Slick & Wicked, and signed the group and they became part of James Brown's " FIRST FAMILY OF SOUL". " Sho Nuff" was written by the group and produced by James Brown, which also went number accross, the country on various charts. It was released on People Records a division of Polydor, which was owned by James Brown. Because of the success of "Sho Nuff" Don Cornelius invited the group to appear on on his number # 1 national and international television show "Soul Train".

In 1974 " Turn on Your LoveLight went on sale throughout the United States , Canada and Europe on Shaker Records, owned by the world famous singing group " The O'Jays". Because of the excitement made by the Shaker Records release, in 1976 "SLY, SLICK & WICKED" was signed to Motown Records and album was released appropriately called "SLY, SLICK & WICKED".

In 1979 Epic a trade name for Sony Entertainment Inc. recorded and released "All I Want is You" worldwide. In 1975 the group appeared at the Kansas City Royals Baseball Stadium at "The Kool Jazz Festival" before 80,000 people and received a standing ovation. Also on that bill were other legends Count Basie, B. B. King, The Isley Brothers, Ohio Players, New Birth, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, Bobbi Humphrey and Cannon Ball Adderly. Polydor / Polygram records an important name in the recording industry, described " SLY, SLICK & WICKED " as " International Vocal Giants".

On Oct. 11 2003 John and the group was one of the recipients of the annual "THE MEN OF MOTOWN AWARD" given by The Motown Museum. Other recipients that night were The Funk Brothers, The Originals, Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers, and Willie Tyler and Lester. The Four Tops performed in their honor. Recently the group was inducted into "The Motown Alumni Hall of Fame". Celebrating 34 years of music in 2004, "The Original Mac Daddys of Soul" will try and give you 34 years more going into the new millennium.
