Bobby Bennett

Bobby Bennett has been played on NTS in shows including House Call, featured first on 12 April 2015. Songs played include Big New York.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Bobby attended Point Park Junior College where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in Communications. In 1967, he began his career in radio at WAMO-AM (Pittsburgh). The following year, he moved to Washington D. C., was hired by the legendary R & B station, WOL-AM, and quickly became the number one DJ in the area. Twelve years later, Bobby left WOL-AM to join the WTOP Sports Department where he remained until 1982. He next spent several years developing his commercial production voiceover business. From 1986-1991, he served as Program Director of Howard University’s radio station, WHUR-FM; 1991-1993, he was National Director Urban Promotions for EMI Records; and, 1993-1994, he served as Executive Vice President National Promotions for IEP Records. Since December 2000, Bobby has been the creator and Program Director of XM Satellite Radio’s Channel 60, Soul Street, which features R & B classics from the mid-fifties through the mid-seventies.

Not withstanding these achievements, Bobby Bennett has been the voice of the radio commercial concert scene since 1977 and is also the author of The Ultimate Soul Music Trivia Book published in 1997.
