Алексей Мажуков (Aleksey Mazhukov) was a Soviet composer and arranger of lounge/easy listening music. His career spanned over several decades, starting in the musical department of Soviet radio. In 1964 he recorded his first composition, "Для тех, кто не спит" ("For Those Who Don't Sleep") for a radio programme. Apart from conducting several orchestras, he worked with Soviet musicians such as Алексей Кузнецов and Eddie Rosner.
He was born in Shumerlya, Chuvashian ASSR, Soviet Union on 10 February 1936 and went to musical school in Cheboksary, Chuvashia. He would later study at the Sarotov Conservatory and the Moscow Conservatory, finishing his studies in 1967. In 1996 he received the "People's Artist of the Russian Federation" award. His music is well known in the post-Soviet space, his music having been done by many iconic artists in the former Soviet Union. He died on 28 June, 2011 in Moscow.
