Harriet The Spy

Harriet The Spy

Harriet The Spy has been played on NTS in shows including Louise Chen , featured first on 1 November 2022. Songs played include This Music Festival Sucks.

Skating on the thin ice between brilliance and obnoxious idiocy, Harriet the Spy of Kent, OH provided a slap in the face to the sanctimonious nature of 90s hardcore musically, aesthetically and lyrically. Fittingly born of the same town that spawned Devo, Harriet the Spy created spastic, chaotic masterpieces of riff-filled dual guitars, dual pissoff vocals and some of the most pounding drums laid to record using formulas both simple and innovative. There is no apt comparison to them, save for something as vague as "Pavement meets Heroin" or something equally as nondescript. Lyrically, they presented a certain sincerity on many of their songs, but created some of the funniest (and brattiest) song titles of all time: "Fluffed up on Puffballs" "I Hate America but I Think I'll Stay" and "Sneaking Peaks at the Will".
