Il était une fois (or Il Etait Une Fois) is a famous french pop Group, leaded by the beautiful Joëlle Mogensen sadly died in 1982. The band was really successful in the 70's.

They only realised 4 albums between 1972 and 1979 but it contains many massive hits such as C'était l'année dernière, Rien qu'un ciel, Que fais-tu ce soir après dîner ?, Viens faire un tour sous la pluie or the popular J'ai encore rêvé d'elle, a million selling in 1976.

The band was known in Japan (under the name "Joëlle et son Orchestre"), in Germany (named "Es war Einmal") and in Italy (with "Cera una Volta"). They recorded some of their most popular songs in German, Italian and English but these versions were never realised in 7" form but only available on french compilations as appreciated exclusive bonus tracks.

The name of the Group can be translated in english by "Once Upon A Time".
