The start of The Ripples can be traced back to 2012, when Georgetown University students Tyler Pierce and Will Heuser (attending Northwestern University at the time) founded the folk project (No) Regard. Eager to start expanding their sound, Will transferred to Georgetown for the Fall 2013 semester and they sought members to fill out the band.
(No) Regard soon changed its name to The Ripples and found a drummer in Anthony Albanese, lead guitarist in Sacha Millet, and bassist in Ben Suarez. Within weeks the group began gigging consistently around DC, with sets that included a large repertoire of original songs.
Demos of these songs that had been recorded by Pierce, Heuser, and multi-instrumentalist Matt Parker over the previous summer formed the foundation of what would be their debut album The First Few. After weeks of hectic recording and mixing sessions, the album was released on November 23rd, 2013.
Since the release of their debut the guys have been writing new material, practicing, and performing at venues in the Washington, DC.
