Paris, summer 2005. "Let's write a pop song." Surviving on a diet of John Hughes, John Waters and David Lynch movies, it's in their tiny parisian appartment that Jez and Caz perfected the recipe for their dirty-minded angular-electro-pop-rock. Accompanied by Chaz and Toz, they chose a moniker in fitting with their green and orange attire: Molloy was thus born.
London, Summer 2007. Many pop songs later, the now Shoreditch-based Molloy released their first single, Tracy (Way Out Records), to critical acclaim and a digital mini album, This Is Fucking Brilliant (Kitty-Yo) which was Steve Lamacq's album of the week on Radio 1. They have also been supported and played by radio djs Alex Zane and Cheeky Pete (XFM), Tom Robinson (BBC6) and Durr dj Jonjo.
Molloy have now finished recording their new EP, Thursday Electric, which will be released January 2009 on upcoming parisian label Silverstation Records and will be followed by a European tour.
They've toured all over London in their green and orange molloymobile and their bespoke live performance – live meaning no samples or backing tracks! - with toys, telephone, megaphone and all analogue equipment, has earned them this year’s INDY Award for "Best New Wave/Progressive Act" after being nominated by XFM-backed promoters Broccoli Music. They were also one of the few bands selected to perform at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival on the XFM/PRS stage and have been chosen to perform at The Canada Music Week in March 2009.
And Europe's taking an interest too after some great gigs in Germany and a very successful mini tour in France, where they also received high profile press and national radio play.

"dirty-minded angular foot-shuffling electro-pop rock influenced by the likes of devo, junior senior, prince and the b-52's. molloy, born in a paris studio the summer of 2006, continue on to write disgustingly danceable guitar / synth pop songs and play in their own energetic prog / punk / pop way all over london town. their limited 500 copies only on green vinyl debut 7" single 'tracy' on way out records is rumoured to be a peaches-meets-le tigre pop delight." Rough Trade Online Shop
"Nice rolling electro new wave ting that was kindly dropped in by the band. Really sticks in your head after a couple of listens and will no doubt work in clubs." Pure Groove Records
"The debut 7" from a band that's simply based in Europe with members from London & Paris. Dance based indie with a female vocal that would sit nicely inbetween Le Tigre, CSS and a more indie Peaches" Banquet Records
“Also in a party mood are Molloy who featured in Stool Pigeon 007 when we opined “if they sped it up a little bit it might well be worth a foot shuffle down the disco.” Well guess what, get your stripper heels on and get up on that floor because this time it’s a no-holes barred minxy electroclash bash round Molloy’s and the beats are on them. ‘Tracy’ is a Peaches - meets - Le Tigre delight that is nothing if not danceable.” The Stool Pigeon
